Theres Nothing That Covers My Legs Like It

You see...i'm very particular with what i wear...for comfortability that is...i'm a t-shirt and jeans kinda a guy and a big fan of denim jeans...but i do enjoy putting on a well tailored pair of suit too...when occasion calls for it ofcoz...but most of the time i'll just be in my t-shirt and blue denim...

i'm not a fan of imitation goods (i dont feel comfortable wearing them as i feel as if i'm lying to myself)...i'd rather buy something cheap but original kinda thing, if you know what i mean...so i normally get only the original stuff (and i dont mean this in an arrogant way ok...) i guess prolly because i like originality full stop...

nway i wanna share with you about my craze for Levi's jeans...if you were to slide my closet open...you would see i have more than 50 pairs of Levi's 501s...and they are all still wearable until today...i've been collecting them since my high school days...i still remember they cost only about rm100 those days and made in the US of A lagi...sekarang dah mahal giler yang ori made in china pun dah RM300 lebih...

A bit of history of it...it all started in California in 1853...a man opened his dry goods wholesale business in San Francisco...selling necessaries such as clothing to the pioneers of the time...his name is Levi Strauss...

What i'm more interested to share with my riders here is the Levi's 'Vintage Clothing' which has become collectors items to me...for some who are not familiar...if you see a capital 'E' on the red Tab of an authentic vintage pair of Levi's...it is an indicator that the jeans is over 37 years old...and mind you the older it gets the more expensive it is...

In 1936 the red Tab device was placed on the right back pocket of the overalls...and had "LEVI'S" stitched in white capital letters on one side only...(it became double-sided in the 1950s)...in 1971 the Levi's brand changed the word mark that today reads 'Levi's'...the leather patch (above the right back pocket) was introduced in 1873...it can be seen on the oldest pair held in the Levi's Co.'s historical archives in Frisco, which dates to that period...the two horses symbolised the strength and durability...

Now where can you find these really cool stuff ?...at the bundle stores...i managed to get my first pair of vintage (6 years ago) that dates back to the 1930s from a store in Kompleks Membeli-belah Campbell (got it for RM1500)...yup if you're one nut case like me u can tell the year it was made...all u have to do is to know which part of the pair to inspect and what to look out for...that's why i love this brand...every pair has a story to tell...basically u just need to know ur stuff thats all...

But lately the Levi's Co. have come up with replicas of the pair of vintage jeans in their archive...mind you they are still the original with the capital E on the red Tab (also known as big E...) so kalau u all pergi kedai Levi's mana2 just ask them if they have any big E jeans...if they carry them grab it!...coz believe u me its very very rare and better still these stuff gets more expensive by age...

Ok lah enough about Levi's...im trying to help a good friend of mine who is a jeans smith...let me tell you this...he's prolly one of the best jeans smith i've ever seen...if your jeans need any repairs or alterations...please do visit his new store in Pertama Complex...some of you may have heard of him...his name is Latip...he's quite famous too among the KL people ni...his store is on the same side and level with the Red Wings shoe store...kedai dia memang takde signage lagi...tapi he's the only store that repair jeans on that floor...so senang je nak cari...if you do visit him just say that you are one of my riders...he knows that i'll be posting about his store tonite as i was there earlier today before i had dinner with wifee...

Will upload pics taken with Latip this evening at his store tmrw...(masih bengap lagi la pasal blog ni, have to get my IT guy Faqrul to upload them for me tmrw morning)...

Meantime put on your denim to sleep...

Salam. Mm... its interesting to know that you dont like imitation stuff. May i ask you an opinion... but before that please dont take this as a personal attack or what, i love your blog and i think its interesting to know the opinion of an uprising radio owner... boleh ya?

Q:
What is your opinion on songs that are prove to be imitation. Example: Aspalela... KRU has admitted that the songs was originated from Indon. Many radio stations play the song mostly immediately after it was release. Wasnt it should be categorised as class C song?

By the way, i got a lot of imitation stuff myself, simply becoz i teringin tapi tak mampu. ahak.

Yupp...I like the originality too. I'm a Levi's fan too. But, 50 pairs..urmm..thats kinda hard for me to chase u. Hahha.

just wear what suit you.ignore others.as long as its not a sin.
poor u.they condemn the way u dress up.thats the price u have to pay as a hubby of a celebrity (ehh..encik E pun celebrity gak kan?haha)

Dude,

I was a fan of 501 too, last few that I own were UK version (yes the brits made their own 501 too), but they were nothing compared to the US made. You can only get American 501 in Camden Town the bundle town of UK (the entire town turn into big bundle pasar malam on Thursdays to Sundays). But don't buy American bundle in UK, cheaper in Malaysia.

Now 10 years later, I don't wear 501 or red tab anymore. I suddenly got obsessed with Orange Tab, there are mainly Pakistani's made, I got one made in Philipines and once I saw a really vintage Orange tab made in Australia, you do come across American one's sometimes. Of course from bundle shops, I am not talking about orange tab in Sogo or Isetan. Those are either Made in China or Penang :)

Unlike you I don't have 50 lah .. probably about 5 pairs max. My wardrobe is not that big dude.

The loudness t'shirt looks cool by the way. Maybe this weekend I put on my Def Leppard t'shirt on. Rock tua aren't we? The newer generation probably never heard of the group.

The 501 history lesson sure bring back old memories...

Assalamualaikum.
